Dr. Troy White

Dr. White was born and raised in Chattanooga. After graduating from The McCallie School, he attended UT Chattanooga where he graduated with honors. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999.

After returning home from UAB, Dr. White joined with Dr. Mark Kapperman who had an optometric practice in the Hamilton Place area. Over the next 24 years, they grew to the largest privately owned and locally operated optometric practice in Chattanooga. The practice operated with a philosophy that caring for patients means more than just caring for their eyes, it means caring for them as unique individuals. Through dedication to the team, patients, and the community, the practice became one of the most respected in the area.

In the fall of 2023, Dr. White founded his own private practice allowing him to elevate the patient’s experience even further. His goal is to utilize new technology to keep the visit simple and efficient while providing the most thorough and precise eye care possible today.
He is a constant student and is always learning about advancements in eye care and overall wellness. He has always believed that health involves all aspects of life and has a passion for seeing people be the best that God has called them to be. He and his wife Melissa love to expand their knowledge of health and wellness and share it with others. They have three adult children Annie, Anderson, and Coleman.

Dr. White has been passionate about medical missions his whole life. He had the opportunity to go on his first medical mission trip as a student in optometry school. He has remained committed to serving and ministering to people locally and around the globe with his knowledge of the eyes and love for people.
Dr. White has served in Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Uganda, Ecuador, and Brazil. He was a founding member of and served many years with Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) of Chattanooga.
